What are clays?
Clays occur naturally and are found in the superficial layer in our earth’s crust. They come in various colours which are determined by the depth they are mined from. They each contain their own unique properties, however, not all
clays are the same and not all clays can be
used in the cosmetic industry.

Mask in a cup only use quality living clay extracted under strict conditions and naturally sun-dried to ensure that their active mineral contents and rich trace elements are retained - silica, magnesium, potassium, calcium, iron, phosphorous and zinc just to name a few that
will benefit the skin.

How does clay benefit the skin?
Clay, when applied to the skin, is naturally absorbent, detoxifying and drawing toxins, excess oil and impurities from the skin.

In saying that, the rich minerals and trace elements naturally contained within the clay
are also a drink for your skin, replenishing the necessary nutrients that our busy lifestyle,
lack of sleep or pollution may have depleted.

How often can I use mask in a cup?
Mask in a cup can be used as often as you
like. For best results at least twice a week is recommended.

I have very sensitive irritated skin can I still
use your mask?
Clay is multifunctional! It also has the natural
ability to soothe the skin thanks to the various minerals it contains. Due to this, eczema, sensitive and acne skin obtain great results from regular
use of our clay.

Is it true that clay can improve skin’s circulation?
At times when having a clay treatment you may
find your skin looks flushed or you may feel a tingling sensation while the clay is drying, don't despair, you’re not having a negative reaction.
Due to the drawing action of the clay more blood
is circulated to the surface which is essential for healing and skin rejuvenation. By the time you
have washed the clay off and moisturised, your
skin has settled to a healthy glow. If you have any concerns, test patch prior to use.

Can any age use mask in a cup?
Absolutely. The qualities of the natural clay together with the added antioxidants will benefit and nourish the skin of all age groups from teenagers to seniors. Remember all skin is made the same way!!!

How do I choose the correct clay for my skin?
Each colour clay has it’s own unique qualities, therefore choosing a clay colour depends on your skin type and what benefits you want for your skin. What are antioxidants and how do they benefit the skin?
Antioxidants are substances or nutrients (in food) such as Vitamin A, C, and E, flavanoids, beta carotene, selenium, zinc... They help protect cells from damage caused by unstable molecules known as free radicals which are well known to cause skin damage and premature ageing.

How much is 20-30ml?
This equals to approximately 1 – 1.5 tbs. Your mask may require more water, just add slowly and mix to a smooth paste.

 

Using the clay
35gms is a generous amount for the whole face, depending on the thickness of the application. The thicker the clay application the longer the mask will take to dry. Tightening and tingling sensation is normal while the clay is drying. Test patch a small area first is if there is a concern.

Add water as directed on the cup, with the spatula enclosed mix the mask in the cup into a smooth paste, apply on face for 15 minutes or until dry, rinse off with warm water or face cloth.

The mask does not need to be fully dry if preferred. Excess mask can be stored in the cup covered with cling wrap
for 2 - 4 days.
