What kind of plant is it from?
It is called the Konjac tree (Amorphophallus konjac), a perennial plant which has a bulb (potato like), also known
as the Konnyaku potato. Konjac is a traditional Japanese jelly like food which has been used for over 1500 years.
It was originally introduced to Japan as a medical plant in the sixth century.


Is the sponge made from the plant fibres and then woven into a sponge with a net, or does it naturally
come from the plant in the form it is in?

The sponges are made 100% from the fibre found in the bulb of the plant. The actual fibre of the sponge is called
glucomannan. Glucomannan is a vegetable fibre and has the amazing ability to retain water in it’s net like structure,
making it perfect for facial and body sponges even for the most delicate skin.


Are other fibres, natural or not, woven into the plant fibres or is it 100% made up from the plant?
100% natural vegetable fibre. The Konjac (glucomannan) vegetable fibre is 97% water and 3% glucomannan fibre,
naturally rich in minerals and has been used in Japan as a beauty treatment for centuries.

What is the natural soap that is contained on the sponge?
The weak alkalinity of the Konjac together with its unique net like structure it is able to naturally clean the skin.

So this is a sponge that we can use over & over, how many uses can you get out of it?
The sponges can last anywhere from 2 – 3 months.

When it is all used, is it 100% bidegradable?

Yes it is 100% biodegradable as it is a natural vegetable fibre.

Is this something that has been traditionally used for some time overseas, or is it brand new?
The sponges have been around for many years - the secret is now out and they are now readily available around the world.

Is this sponge good as a replacement for a face cleanser for women?  If so, what skin types
and are there any chemicals in it?
